At Zandvoort debut and second race weekend of the popular racing series of the ADAC, the Corvette team this coming weekend (4th - 6th May) another podium finish in his sights. This is the first time in the 2012 season that Callaway Competition is racing four versions of the 2012 revised Leingarten developed and built Corvette GT3 R Z06.R.
Daniel Keilwitz and Diego Alessi, in the season opener were third in the opening round and are trying to return to the podium in their first start with the new Corvette. Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Andreas Wirth want to translate their speed on the former Formula 1 circuit in Amsterdam to a good result.
Since the season started, the lights at Callaway went out rarely. "Our team worked day and night," says Callaway Competition Ernst Wöhr. "We have two other cars have converted to the current configuration and we worked at the same time to improve the reliability of the new Corvette. The entire team has done a great job in the recent months. I hope that we will be rewarded at Zandvoort with a podium finish."
Forecasts are difficult, Zandvoort is new territory for Callaway Competition and the ADAC GT Masters. "In theory, our Corvette has an excellent chance at Zandvoort, so I expect a good weekend," says Daniel Keilwitz. "Oschersleben was the start of the season but did not have a well sorted out Corvette, but still we went to the podium, so I am optimistic for Zandvoort." His new race car that Keilwitz already tried out this past weekend at the Nurburgring, where they ran the Corvette for almost four hours without any problems.
After a strong, but non-points scoring performance at the season, the former Formula 1 driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Andreas Wirth driving the Bookbinding Corvette at Zandvoort, they have big plans for this weekend. At the start of the season Frentzen / Wirth were only missing a bit of racing luck. "I'm really looking forward to the weekend at Zandvoort, the track has always liked me," says Andreas Wirth. "It was a bit ago when I raced at Zandvoort, but I was in the Formula ADAC BMW with Nico Rosberg on the podium. I think our Callaway Corvette in Zandvoort will be good, and I hope together with Heinz-Harald Frentzen we will be successful in the Netherlands. "
"We at the start of the season still had some problems with the electronics and I hope that everything works in Zandvoort," said Wöhr. "Zandvoort is a track that has it all and you should not underestimate it under any circumstances. An exact route knowledge is there, the alpha and omega drivers who have raced there many times, will have always an advantage. It is always a very exciting weekend.
Two other Corvette GT3 R is Z06.R Callaway Competition in collaboration with Toni Seiler Racing for Toni Seiler / Frank Kechele and Remo Lips / Frank Schmickler one will be racing.
