Brazil GT: Debut wins for Scuderia 111

Brazilian GT3 TNT Racing Team Scuderia by 111 captured their first and second wins of the season over the weekend in only their 4th race with their new Callaway Z06R GT3. Driver Pedro Queirolo highlights the weekend events:


"After the storm of round one comes the calm! In the first and much anticipated street race of the Itaipava GT Brazil, we scored our first victory today in the category. This was the first victory of the Corvette Z06R in Brazil and my first win in GT3, totaling 5 wins in Brazil Itaipava GT.

After a failed start of the championship, when we were not able to even start the opening race at Interlagos, we were able to bounce back, to score a great win. We started the mornings free practice in P6 and P3. When rating the performance of the car, it was a bit below our expectations, because we were only able to get to P8 with a time that was worse than the last time out on track, despite being on new tires. We were very cautious and concerned about speeding here in Anhembi, because a fatal error could compromise the race on Sunday and quite possibly the next round in Curitiba.

I hesitated at the start and lost touch with seventh place and still ended up going straight into "S"(samba) off line in eighth place. I can say that was the only mistake I made during the race, because after that it was total concentration! It was an exhausting and very exciting race, and I celebrated each overtake like a victory. In the final laps, when I fought to P1, I managed to turn my 3 fastest laps of the race.


For the second race, we started the day with the Pole Position, but knew it would be very difficult to hold the other cars during the race. Our corvette takes a while to get up to speed, and soon after the start I lost the second position from the Ford GT. But I knew it would only be for a short period and we had a car to rival the top cars on the grid.

As the laps went by, the car was evolving great and was shrinking the gap to 1s until the Ford entered the pitbox for the exchange of drivers. At this time I kept on track and did my best lap of 1.35.377 during the race, the second best among all competitors and went to the pits. I thought I was not going to stop at the entrance of the pits, but everything went well and did a perfect pitstop in 2 minutes flat. When leaving the pits we were P1 and managed the advantage over Fordão. Some problems with the timing during the race, hindered the understanding of the teams that were pushing hard. At one point, we thought there was a gap of 30 seconds.


After collecting and checking the data, we discovered that we won once more...and back to back! I can imagine that it must have been really hard for the other teams to see the 13 corvett trampling several renowned riders. Some of them refused to get on the podium, which appeared as a lack of respect and a break of the rules. I hope that appropriate measures are taken so that such things do not happen again.

And so we are making our mark in the seried history, earned wins, lots of faith, and hard work. Thanks to all who were present there at the Sambadrome and cheered for us!
