The fastest car in yesterday's Pre Qualifying proved to be the fastest car when it mattered.  Xavier Maassen and Jos Menten steered the Mad-Croc Racing Corvette C6R to pole position in qualifying for Round 5 of the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Maassen easily qualified in Q1, finishing in 2nd place to hand over to Menten in Q2, who also set the 2nd fastest session time to progress to the final 8.  Maasen then set a time of 2m17.605 to claim the first pole position for himself, Jos Menten and Mad-Croc Racing.  The All-Inkl.com Muennich Motorsport Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV of Nicky Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager will line up alongside the leading Corvette in this afternoons Qualifying Race, with the Reiter Lamborghini of Ricardo and Frank Kechele heading up row 2 in 3rd place.

"We've been knocking on the door for some time and in the races we've been competitive and doing a good job, but every time we didn't seem to get the result that we wanted. I think that every race we had a chance of a podium but we never seemed to get it.

"In Paul Ricard it went a bit better but then we were touched by (Romain) Grosjean and we had to start from P20 again, so I'm really delighted, it's like a relief now that we've finally got a good result and a pole position, especially here at a track that is brilliant. It is our home track and if you've got a good car then Spa is just incredible."
