
FIA GT Adria: Practice Report

An extremely close session, with the top six cars all within a second,
and three makes in the top three, saw Marcel Fässler set the best time in the nr 5 GMAC-backed Phoenix
Racing Corvette C6R.
The Swiss driver lapped the 2.702 km circuit in 1:12.980, 31 thousands of a second faster than the nr 33 Jetalliance Aston Martin DBR9 of Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp, and two tenths faster than the nr 1 Vitaphone
Maserati MC12 of Bertolini
and Bartels.
The second Phoenix car was fourth, with the nr 15 JMB Racing Maserati fifth, and the nr 37 ACA Argentina Ferrari an excellent sixth. Monza victors Bouchut and Maassen, carrying 40 kg weight, was seventh, 1.052 seconds behind the fastest time.
In GT2, the nr 50 AF Corse Ferrari set the best time, with a lap of 1:15.730, 16 thousandths of a second ahead of the nr 61 Prospeed Porsche, with the nr 56 CR Scuderia Ferrari third.
The sole G2 car, the Belgian Racing Gillet Vertigo, only managed to complete four laps before suffering a problem with the air box. The team hopes to repair this new part before the second session.
