Apart from the main event, the FIA GT3 Championship will resume normal duty this weekend for 2 exciting rounds. With grids of over 40 cars, including 11 models from 10 manufacturers, all competing in a single class, the level of competition is unparalleled.
In Monza, qualifying showed just how well-balanced the cars are, with the top seven places filled by seven different makes.
Last time out, newcomer Johan Charpilienne was the talk of the paddock. After pole position, a second place finish, and a controversal disqualification from race one, the Frenchman will be looking to improve in the "German Bowl" circuit this weekend. Apart from Marc Sourd Racing, the regular lineups from MM Racing and Callaway Competition will be looking for another great result. More so will be that of Callaway. They are in high spirits after a great result in the latest rounds of the ADAC GT Masters in Germany and will hope to apply that momentum to the 2 races this weekend.
Sascha Bert looks confident going into this weekends race:
“We tested in Hockenheim two weeks ago with Alois (my co-driver) "It went very well. He managed to make a really big improvement, and things should be much better for Oschersleben. I like the circuit; I was second in qualifying there in
2006 in the FIA GT Championship, despite having 70 kg penalty weight in the car. The track should be good for the Corvette.”
Like the GT Championship, the GT3 points are just as close with the Nr1 car only 2 points behind the leading Ford GT pairing.
So overall, look for yet another batch of edge of your seat races with Corvette battling hard until the very end for victory.
Live timing and video will be available starting Friday, 10:45am local time (4:45am Eastern)
