Corvette qualifies 1st and 2nd for Silverstone

Rainy conditions greeted 31 GT cars at Silverstone Saturday and it was the swiss of Marcel Faasler who took the early advantage. The conditions were so wet that by the time the GT1 cars went out after the GT2 cars, they were stuggling to match any of their times.

After the session was restarted after the red flag was issued, Most teams were trying to go faster than their previous times which were slower than the GT2 cars. During this time most teams were still looking at which compound to run on as some parts of the track were slightly less damp than others.

In the end though the only cars that would keep the charging Sean Edwards (in a G2 class S7R) at bay for pole was the 2 C6R vettes of Marcel Fassler (GMAC Phoenix) and Christophe Bouchut (SRT).

With a time set of 1:55.220, an average speed of 160.59kph, the swiss was
happy to grap pole:

“It was really nice to drive. I thought it was more slippery so i'm really happy about the car and it was difficult to choose the right tires at the right moment". Yes its really nice, I wish I could race a bit more last year ,but unfortunately I couldnt so to be here this year with a fantastic team around me is great."

Christophe Bouchut was equally happy to start second:

“It's a good start we have to be happy, we were close to pole, but the conditions were tricky and choosing the right compound was tough. It was a good start in the sesssion however I lost some momentum after a spin due to the tire not being up to the optimum temperature. However I am looking forward to the race Sunday".

For the race Sunday, Corvette Motorsport will provide live coverage as well as select live onboard cameras and live timing in the Media section.
