PK Carsport excluded from Zolder results!

More bad news today for Corvette Motorsport as PK Carsport has been omitted from the final FIA GT round at Zolder. Checks carried out after the Zolder race on the engine of the nr 4 C6R, the Stewards received a report that the cylinder heads and cylinder block are not in compliance with the technical regulations, article 258.5.2.1. The Stewards therefore decided to exclude the car from the results of the 8th round. The team has announced its intention to appeal the decision, to be confirmed by the ASN.
“The Stewards, having received a report from the FIA Technical Delegate, that post race check of the engine of car no.4 the cylinder heads and the cylinder block are not in compliance with art. 258.5.2.1. Because of absence of the 2nd FIA steward Mr Howard Lapsley and the National steward Mr. Roger Baele the proxy is given to Mr Richard Gabeler and Mr. Yves Bacquelaine. After hearing the Technical Delegate Mr. Manuel Leal, the team manager Mr Jorge Segers and the witness Mr. Alex Roberge, and note the explanations of GM Racing from December lst the stewards decided to exciude car no 4 from the race results.”
"The engine must retain the original cylinder block, cylinder heads, valve angles, number and location of camshafts and firing order. The machining of the cylinder block and cylinder heads is permitted. The oil sump is free and may include the crankshaft bearing caps. The addition of material to the block or heads is not permitted. However, it is permitted to block a sleeve that is fitted with sleeves orignally, by welding if necessary, and to add parts or screwing through Bolting. It is also permitted to modify or close the lubrication holes in the cylinder head, close hole injector or use standard helical coils. Injection system and fire systems are free. "
Anthony Kumpen shared his thoughts:
"GM (General Motors) has informed us that there was a problem with the FIA homologation form of the engine of the Corvette C6.R. After the race in Zolder our motor was sealed. We may own the motor, but do not work on it ourselves, that should only be done by Katech (the engine builder). Officials of the FIA have been flown to America to inspect the engine ...GM was involved in the case, but we didnt get all of the details". *
